No tour of Western Canada would be complete without a visit to the overwhelming Canadian Rockies. The Rockies are amazing for true nature lovers. It has blue lakes, miles of beautiful hiking trails, and impressive peaks, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a bear. There are enough beautiful places and wildlife to keep you entertained for days, so be sure to have your camera ready! Here are more reasons why the Canadian Rockies should definitely be on your bucket list!
1) A UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Canadian Rockies are part of the vast North American Rocky Mountains located in Alberta and British Columbia.
There are five national parks in the Canadian Rockies. Four of these national parks are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
-Banff National Park
-Kootenay National Park
-Yoho National Park
A fifth national park, Waterton Lakes National Park, is not on UNESCO’s World Heritage list, but is just as fantastic.
2) A Place for a Nice Road Trip
The roads in Canada’s Rocky Mountains are very well maintained, and there are plenty of opportunities to stop for spectacular photos. In addition, the streets are very good for cars, motor homes, and motorbikes. In high season, some days can get a bit crowded, but otherwise, they are quiet.
Note: The 230 km-long Icefield Parkway between Jasper and Banff, which traverses the Columbia Icefield, is considered one of Canadian Rocky Mountain tourism highlights.

4) Adventure and Serenity
The Canadian Rockies have been called one of the most beautiful places globally, and the first sight of the mountains as you approach the park is unreal and magical. This area radiates a lot of serenity. As soon as you get out of the car, you notice the wonderfully clean air sucked in through the zillions of trees in the park, and this is just the beginning! This wonderful drive will take you through the national park, along rugged roads, winding between trees and rivers. Keep your eyes peeled for deer and bears on the side of the road!
5) A Lot of Things To Do
Canada’s Rocky Mountains cover an area of 180,000 km², so you can spend a lot of time here. It is recommended that you spend at least 5-7 days visiting the Rocky Mountains. In addition to the natural beauty, the various towns such as Banff and Jasper are also great places to spend the day. Besides relaxing in the natural hot springs, you can also go on amazing white water rafting trips, helicopter flights, shopping (hint: Banff has a Christmas store that is open all year round!) ).
