Going camping is not something you can improvise. Living outdoors requires a minimum of organization to make the experience as pleasant as possible. This post will help you make the right choices to prepare for your adventure!
Camping equipment to sleep well
The tent
The tent is the most important element. Choosing the right one requires a lot of thought when you go on your first trip.
Find out how waterproof and windproof your shelter is whatever type of camping you want to do (camping vacations, wilderness camping or bivouac). Your belongings will then be protected from bad weather, and you will be able to enjoy your stay in complete safety.
The living area, which is the room outside the bedrooms, will allow you to store the rest of your equipment. If you want a small tent, we recommend you choose one with an extra sleeping area, which will serve as a storage area.
Finally, you should also pay attention to the shape of the tent.
For a “family” camping, the tunnel shape will be more adapted. These tents often have a larger living space and offer more comfort.
For trekking or high mountain expeditions, we advise you to choose the dome shape. Also known as igloo tents, they are faster to erect and lighter, allowing you to transport them easily.
You can also choose the pyramid shape, which is reminiscent of the tipis of the American Indians. Spacious and easy to show, these tents are a perfect compromise between the 2 previous ones.
The mattress
Once again, it would help if you chose the camping mattress according to your practice. It is up to you to identify which criteria are the most important.
We often distinguish the 3 seasons mattresses for the great adventurers from the winter mattresses. Thermal insulation is indeed crucial. It allows you to spend a good night without being cold. Find the right compromise between good insulation and reasonable weight for hiking.
Then, the size and comfort will be a secondary criterion of choice for the wild campers, whose goal will be to have a mattress as light as possible and therefore small and thin. The other campers will look for more comfort and turn to heavier equipment.
The equipment to eat well while camping
Camping furniture
When you don’t plan to move around too much, don’t hesitate to bring camping furniture. Whether you’re eating, sunbathing or having an aperitif, you’ll be happy to have a portable table and seats.
Whether it’s a deck chair, an armchair, a simple chair or a stool, it’s up to you to decide what’s easiest to carry or most comfortable.
Camping equipment
To enjoy a good meal, we have made a list of camping equipment that we think is essential (in addition to cutlery, plates, glasses etc.):
– A stove to concoct good hot meals,
– A mini lunch box to take your meals everywhere,
– A thermal equipment that will keep your food warm,
– A cooler (flexible or rigid) which, on the contrary, will keep your food cool.
You can find all this equipment on vastoutdoors.com.au, a specialist in outdoor activities!
